5th Social Studies
By Tammy

Clip to ScrapBook
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SUBJECT! The students every year say they leave 5th grade loving history. You can really incorporate a bunch of hands on projects. Examples:
Colonies: Pair up students to do research on one of the colonies.
Have them make a brochure selling their colony. They also have to make a map of their colony and be able to present to the class.
Revolutionary War: Each student chooses a battle and researches it. Makes either a large or small scale map and has to present it based on 10 facts.
20th Century: 3-4 students combine to study the people, places, events, lifestyles of a decade in
the 20th century. They have to bring to life their decade with artifacts in a booth. We then line the booths up in chronological order and have a "Walk through the 20th Century." The kids and school look forward to it every year.
