A Couple of Ideas
By Tina in OK

Clip to ScrapBook
Have you thought about doing a glyph? When I taught middle school social studies I gave each child a piece of paper and a ziplock of crayons. They drew an island the shape of a hobby that they enjoy. They put a star on
it with the name of the city where they were born. They named the island after themselves, such as Thompsonola or OaHughes. Somehow we marked favorite subject, # of siblings, favorite restaurant, etc.

Also, have you seen the grid with squares that they walk around and get signatures in, like Find someone that: has a birthday in the same month as you, likes the same topping on a pizza,

was not born in Oklahoma, etc.? They could only have each person sign on two and whoever finished first or had the most by a certain time gets to pass out small treats to everyone.

I have also given each child a paper T-shirt pattern and had them decorate it in a way that tells something about themselves. Hope these help.
