math quilts
By Lianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I used quilts as a math theme. This unit is great for
1-measurement
2-patterning ( various patterns in the paper, shapes, etc..)
3-geometry flips, slides, turns
I searched for quilt patterns on the net. I copied the patterns on bristol board and cut them out to use as tracers.I used old wallpaper books to cut my shapes. I did this with our whole school gr.1 to gr.8. The children identified the patterns, the transformations in their quilt piece and we put them all together in our foyer. It was beautiful!
