Explorers
By Lora

Clip to ScrapBook
I am also teaching explorers. I have each student research a different explorer. They must draw a map of the route, tell who financed their trip (sometimes difficult), where they landed, difficulties along the way, and purpose of the expedition. I give all students a chart that they have to fill in these catagories during the presentations. I devise the test according to what was said during the presentations and which explorers were reported on.

This works well and teaches responsibility with notetaking. I help them locate information.

What are some other ideas? I am always looking for something new to try also.
