Clip to ScrapBook
I know a 2nd/3rd grade teacher who take pumpkins every fall and has her students make globes out of them. They learn to place continents in the right place and begin learning Longitudinal and Latitudinal directions. She has the kids paint them all blue then they take green paint and place the continents where they belong. The only problem she has ever had is eventually the pumpkins begin to spoil, rot, and smell, but if you have the kids take them home a few days after the lesson that shouldn't happen to you.
