I noticed that some students switched more often whereas other students kept their books longer. I didn't mind as long as they were reading! That said, there were times I would suggest to a child that they exchange books if it seemed like they had the same books for awhile. I had previously had more control over exchanging books, but it was too much work for me, and I like to give that responsibility to the students. It worked great!
