Thanks for the encouragement

I really feel better about my choice to leave out the cursive portion of the curriculum. 6 years of teaching kdg and pre-k kids has taught me that nothing squelches a child's desire to learn to write like trying to "help"
them learn to write. She just got to the point where she will draw a picture (and they're all wonderful---we're not talking about ability, just a strong-willed child that likes anything as long as she's not ASKED to do it and she hates praise.)
Her tentative school begins cursive instruction in K4, and they leave reading. That's why I didn't want her to be behind. I think she knows
she's not going to be challenged at her current school (she actually missed Kdg by 2 months) and I'm afraid that she is going to be a "trouble" student. She seems more like a second-grader than a 4- almost 5-year old. Anyway, thanks for your encouragement and advice. ( I may end up having to homeschool her anyway...she may get expelled from pre-k after the first week for her
lack of interest in anything that's not musical or literature-related! )
