I too teach at a small Catholic School. I will never go back to public. I had always taught in private schools, but when we moved to NC I decided to try public schools. Last year was the longest year of my life!!! I only get $25.00 for the year, but the Parent Volunteer President started a "giving tree". She asked all teachers to provide a list of what they want and she wrote the wishes on apple cut outs and hung them from a tree. My apples are all gone---I asked for and overhead projector screen, a bible, film, etc. and I need to fill my apples again. It is a wonderful way for parents to help out and also can get the parishioners involved. Donations can be made secretly.
