I too pay for everything out of pocket for my classroom. My husband says it costs him money for me to teach. If I ever left my grade I would need a u haul. I have not been able to make my annual trek this year to buy new| things or order from my many catalogs because I have a very serious eye infection, this is the first time I have been able to go on line in weeks. I love what I do and would not teach in a public school. Yes there are politics in Catholic school too, but I think we have the best job in the world. I love being able to decorate and buy things for my kids, I have become very creative and | | live in 99 cent stores. I have learned to use tracing paper and often find that the teacher books on the market only have a few pages that I need. Through the years I have compiled a full curriculum from bits here and there I have found that teachers are very helpful with both their time and their creativity. I love the fact that if I am on morning duty or lunch duty I know the kids by name I love being able to see the kids who started with me in Pre-K go through the grades and come back to talk to me. I cried when my first group graduated from the 8th grade. So yes my husband will complain about my spending money on my room, I even wanted a science program called P.A.S.S. and went to a local store and got them to fund it.I am so glad I wrote today because I was feeling pretty depressed about my eye, now I am starting to feel more energized, sorry if I rambled...but we are the luckiest of all people aren't we.
