Mary, it sure sounds like a challening year ahead. Our school also has had a turnover of teachers but fortunately our principal and secretary are not a part of it. I too have been teaching for years at a Catholic school.

One of my gripes is the amount of money the Archdiocese foolishly spends. If the teachers were compensated fairly for their work and salaries were somewhat parallel to public schools, then teachers would remain in the Catholic school system.

Pastors should stay out of school business....far too many either have no knowledge of running a school or no interest in doing so. Our new

pastor spent $60,000, yes the figure is correct, gutting the rectory and decorating it to suite his needs. Meanwhile, we get $125 for supplies for the entire year --- with a class of 32!!!

Unfortunately the longer I am in the system the more I realize I have to get out....it would, however, be difficult to leave some of the students and their wonderful families. How can expenses such as these be justified??? I will never know
