Let the Kids Decorate
By Pam/Ga/1

Clip to ScrapBook
Your classroom really belongs to the children who inhabit it for the year. Make sure you leave lots of space for the things they make to decorate the room. Are you allowed to hang things from the lights/ceiling? Mobiles
and art from the kids hanging from the ceiling make it feel much more "inhabited". I also bought a windsock for a dollar at the dollar store. It looks festive hanging by a window. Also see if the school has old nature magazines. There are often cute animal photos you can cut out and mount. Several yards of contact paper in coordinating colors can make cardboard boxes and the cans
with lids from Pringles or dishwasher tablets look neat and very organized. You can even put in around your whiteboard or chalkboard to make it look better. Bring in lots of fresh plants. I just dig up some of my geraniums and they bloom all winter in the classroom. Let the parents know you are on the lookout for an old rocker, carpet squares, or a lamp for your desk...they may have somethings you can use.
