I'm not in the process of getting my credential, but I'll be 61 in December! I taught H.S. and Coached back in '69-'74, then got out of teaching. I ended up in Telecommunications, but did participate in some Stay In School programs that the company offered. Just enough to make me want to return to teaching when I retired. When I got laid off, along with about 350 others in June this year, I decided to "retire" early, and am now a Professional Substitute. I love it! To get certified, I just sent in a copy of my old certificate and a small $$$ amount, and presto - I have a 5 Year Substitute Certificate. I've been called about twice a week, and I think it will pick up as the year progresses. What a good life!
