Dear arm:

Your feelings and experiences are very normal. Please don't think otherwise! I remember last year when I was feeling exactly the way you described. I felt I had made the wrong decision to become a teacher.
I felt incompetent...... oh, I don't want to go there....

I let all these feelings escalate to the point that I resigned. I can't tell you how much regret I feel.

I wish that I could erase the word "quit" right out of your mind. Don't entertain the negative thoughts! Oh, there is so much that I would like to say to you.....but being a beginning teacher I know that you don't have

the time.

So, I'll keep it short. I highly recommend that you get the book "Tools for Teaching: Discipline, Intruction, Motivation." I just ordered it through Barnes and Nobles. It is wonderful. It's easy to read. It is written with humor and has all the info that I think should have been taught during our teacher education days.

Anyway...........get that book!
You will not be sorry. It's about $24. You can order it online and receive it within a few days!

Take it one step at a time, allow yourself to be human (you're going to make mistakes), remember that MOST teachers have a difficult time in the beginning. Teaching is not an easy skill to learn 'cause it's so multifaceted!

Whoops....said I'd keep it short. See ya, G.M.
