Getting to know you
By Dawn

Clip to ScrapBook
HI,

I got this activity from the Internet several years ago. My 6th graders LOVED it.

You get out a roll of toilet paper. (You've definitely got their attention when you bring that out ) You tell them to take as
many squares of the paper as they need. You don't tell them what they're going to use it for. Then pass the roll around the room, letting kids take whatever number of squares they want--at least one though.

You can pass another roll around from the other side of the room to save time.

When they are finished, you call on them one by one, and they count their squares. That is how many

facts about themselves that they have to share with the class.

You can go first to loosen them up. It's always fun because most have taken 1 to 5 squares but there are always a few who hammed it up and took 20 or more squares.

Not my original idea, but one I have adopted because the kids love it. good luck!
