Disposable portfolio By Just Wondering

Hi, Sue.I wish I could take credit for coming up with this idea, but it came from an ealier poster to a query I made last week (either Dawn or G.M, but my brain is not quite awake enough yet to remember which one--Sorry,folks!!). I | included copies of my cover letter, resume, certification, 3 letters of reference, a list of additional references, copies of evaluations, several sample lesson plans with any graphic organizers and rubrics used, my discipline/classroom management plan, typical rules and expectations (this is a letter which I have used to send to parents for both them and students to sign) | | and samples of communications to parents. In addition, I included copies of several letters of appreciation which I have received both from parents and students (it doesn't hurt to show that your work has been valued by the ones whose opinions count the most!). I used the disposable portfolio at both last week's and yesterday's interviews. Each time, the principal was amazed that I was leaving it for them and seemed suitably impressed at the contents. During the interview, I referred to various elements of the contents. That sure gave a boost to my confidence level in demonstrating both my professionalism and organization skills. Now the proof in the pudding will be if it actually nets me a job!! Fingers are crossed and prayers are besieging heaven as we speak.
