My Thoughts By G.M.

Hi,I can understand your wondering whether you are answering the questions you mentioned appropriately. I wondered too. A LOT! I think it really is a matter of opinion. My opinion is that you answered them correctly. | I wouldn't elaborate on your previous nonteaching jobs though because it might eat up to much time. I've been told by many of those on interview boards that they want an answer that is 2 mins. long or less for such questions. I also was told to emphasize that you love to work with children. I've been told that by several administrators. They've said that an interviewee should NEVER | | assume that the interviewers know this. Say it and say it with sincerity.Do you present a portfolio at the interviews? I prepared 7 (disposable) ones when I interviewed last year (my first job at the age of 45). The people on the panel were quite impressed that I gave each of them a copy. For the folder, I used folders with the brads; I think they were around 40 cents each. They sell them at place such as Wal-Mart. The principal who called me back for a second interview had been thumbing through my portfolio as I walked in to be interviewed. He offered me the job within two minutes. He knew enough about me I guess from my portfolio that he didn't need much time to decide to hire me. Also, remember to not be in a big rush to blurt out answers. I've been told by the powers that be that they like interveiwees who seems to think before the speak. Anyway, back to your questions. I think your answers are good. Go to that interview with confidence! Let us know how it went. Best Wishes! G.M.
