killing 'em
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
Yes, I believe the dryer heat will kill the lice and eggs. So will soaking things in very hot water with a bit of ammonia. There is a spray for furniture and other fabrics, but it is expensive and is not a preventive.
It's meant to be used to kill lice and eggs after you find them. As with any insecticide, I would be very careful using it around kids.

Lice pass around a classroom very quickly and there's not much you can do to prevent that. I've been infected and managed to pass the stupid things to my son and daughter! Yuck. No matter how clean your classroom, home, hair or personal habits you can

still get them. I got them when I was teaching preschool and was often holding little children close. In a regular classroom students work so close that their hair often touches. Even without sharing combs, hats or headphones the lice will get passed. I've never picked them up again, but every time someone mentions lice I find myself reaching up to scratch.....
