I was 41 when I got my first teaching job(I'm 54 now). Many of the long time teachers seemed to be a little jaded and there wasn't a whole lot of joy in how they viewed their jobs. I really enjoy the young teachers ~ as long as they don't act like they have all the answers! Its true some seasoned was act a little distant. I also think that some who have never done anything BUT teach need a little reality check about what it is like in the private sector.
