Hi! I just thought I would introduce myself. I was a pediatric nurse before I became a teacher. I went back to school and was certified in both special ed and elementary ed. Last year was my first year teaching I taught special| ed 2nd and third grade, next year I will be at the same school but with kindergarteners and first graders. I have to say that while my first year wasn;t perfect I really had fun and I think I made a good career choice. While I miss the money I used to make (oh and getting overtime) I do not miss the shiftwork- it wasn't bad at the time but as a mom I don't think I could possible | | work a week of nights, the next week evenings, and the next days with 12 and 16 hour shifts thrown in. As a teacher I can also watch the kids grow and learn and really bond with them- also am I no longer the person kids run from crying in the stores (mommy that is the lady who gave me the shots!)At the same time I decided to teach, my husband decided to leave his job- he got out of the military and is now a police officer. It is interesting for both of us to be brand new on our jobs and for both of us to be enjoying our work. Sorry this is so long- I just wanted to say hi!
