Thanks, Kristin!

Clip to ScrapBook
I have worked vigorously to have my kids learn their times tables from 0-12. They were *supposed* to have learned the times tables (as a state standard) when they were in fourth grade, but I guess this didn't happen. Still,
like you, I have a dream! I regularly give timed tests and write to parents. It was quite shocking to me when I had a *gifted* student (she actually is quite bright) not be able to complete more than a dozen or so problems in five minutes. Not enough fingers, I guess.

We also work vigorously on writing good paragraphs. I have kids from fourth grade who still want to chunk everything

together into one big block with ideas all over the place that don't quite connect. We work hard on graphic organizers and outlining. We take it slowly.

I am guilty of not giving much homework. I only give spelling and math--so maybe that's something I need to rethink.

Thanks for your input.
