6th Grade Talkers
By Yvette Wedel

Clip to ScrapBook
OOOh Taking things away never works! Not with 6th graders. Always try to give them something. By this time you know who your leaders are. Give them each a group. Make groups evenly dispursed with talkers and non-talkers.
Give group tickets for candy rewards at the end of the day. Nothing big something as simple as a sucker will do! Try homework passes...free time passes....anything that is free will do for the group with the most wins for the week. Check out your script program for some easy rewards.Maybe PTA will help! Even parents. Let them have groups names and put boxes on the board with their names
in it. put stars for good and checks when they are in the whole. If you get through a lesson without talking or little talking at first give groups appropriate marks. keep it simple but reward reward reward....They'll catch on!!! Good Luck!
