Also, I don't know if this is causing an effect or not, but before I dismiss my students, I tell them to all have a great day and to remember that I BELIEVE In THEM..

I allow them to store their books and binders for my class in my room, so that they don't have to carry them around. And I let them all go to the bathroom during the beginning of class (1 at a time). The other teachers don't. They are beginning to come around. If they mess up, they lose bathroom break. If they dont come in, sit down and begin on the question of the day BEFORE the tardy bell rings, they are late to my class. i send them out and they have to get a pass from the office to come back..
