Problem child resolution
By Trish

Clip to ScrapBook
Dawn,

My first problem child, the girl that made my life hell on the first day, I took her aside and said told her that seeing that she is older than the other students they will be looking up to her. i expect her to
set a good example. For exchange, she can be my runner to the office (which I was told she loves to help) and I would call home to give good reports. On the 2nd day, I did just that. Her step mother was thrilled and so was Chelsea.

As far as the prob child in my 5th period, I kept him after class one day and asked him how could I help him succeed. And he told me that he needed his seat

moved. I agreed. He chose his seat between 2 girls. The girls were upset, but it worked. I was spending 40 of the 60 minutes of my instructional time on Mark. Friday I spent maybe 10. I also told him I would call home. I did for him on Friday. His mother was thrilled.

I found out that Mark is classified as sp. ed. and Chelsea is LD and is facing being removed from her home to be placed in a group home. She needs a positive recomendation.. hence, she behaves in my class.

Hopefully this is keep up.

Trish
