I don't understand why you don't want to start teaching on the first 3 days. If they already know you and each other I'd say you're all set to begin intro activities for Civics. I am curious about your reasoning. I teach 6th in elementary school but come at it from a middle school perspective (which is why I like this board) and I plan on beginning teaching right away. I'll integrate teaching and practicing procedures with my lessons. With only 180 days of school I don't feel as if I have time to give up.
