Kids and subs
By Kristin

Clip to ScrapBook
It is terrible that students think they can misbehave for subs. I'm hardly absent because I am afraid they will misbehave for the sub. I do enforce anything the sub uses for discipline and I call parents if the sub lists
disrespectful students.

When I student taught, I watched a sub who was very successful. She passed out funny money to students who behaved. She also had a mini-jeopardy game the last few minutes of class and students earned more money. Students then cashed it in for candy. However, this was a lower grade classroom, so she was with them all day. Although daily funny money isn't always

successful, for one day it worked great.

I am assuming you only have the kids for about an hour. I would try a modified version of this with tickets, then have a raffle the last two minutes of class for a soda, or candy. Or the person with the most tickets gets a prize. Or even better, the most tickets gets a prize and then the rest of the class has a raffle for another prize. Hey, maybe I will use this in my regular classroom!
