We all meet in the gym =give some general announcements -then each teacher leads their parents and students to their room. When we get to the room, I stand at the door and give each family a sheet that tells them where to put their school supplies, etc. Then I mingle for the next 10 minutes. (puzzles are set out for kids to take to their seat if their family is done early with the list I give them)
Then the principal rounds up the students and takes them outside to play or a movie in bad weather.
I show a powerpoint presentation to the parents. I have name tag necklaces for first day at their seats. I , also, hand out a ABC of Kindergarten to them to take home. A is for Attendance, Please call the school at _________by 9am etc.
It takes about 45 minutes.
