I wanted to send my daughter (in kindergarten) who is also very bright to a private school but when I saw my neighborhood school which is so famous for its acedemics and children coming out of the school basically get admissions in Harvard, I decided to send her in the public school and invested money in programs like learning Piano, joining a youth theater, going to Art school, soccer and doing projects with her at home which are based on what she is interested right now. We just finished Fairy house theme where we did lot of Nature things, read books, made paintings, made fairy house....wrote stories....all in a very detail manner..I tried to incorporate all the skills I could. Currently we are doing research on pets. She is reading books to find if she can take care of the pet she is interested in. I have introduced webbing to her. There is so much you could do with her at home which will be better from any charter or private school. And I think your time with her will be precious and fruitful. I know we want best for our children and don't want to feel as if we made a wrong choice, but looking at your situation I think if your neighborhood school is strong in acedemics, just go for it and then introduce all the extra - curricular activities to your daughter to make her an all rounder and see where she shines!
All the best!
