I hve been teaching middle school for 14 years now. I usually have a 1/2 day the first day and pretty much just have my homeroom kids. On the first full day or two, I spend time going over policies and routine stuff. I go over the policies with the kids. they sign this paper and then they have to take the paper home and have a parent sign it. This stays intheir folder all year and it has really been a big plus.
