Middle School Behavior Management

First , I just want to say how happy I am that we have this new board! This is wonderful!
The most important thing for behavior management in middle school is the follow through. I just finished my first year with 7th
grade and I learned (very quickly) that if you say that you are going to call home you MUST call home! If you send something home to be signed (a behavior journal, for example) and it does not come back, there WILL be a consequence (and YOU have to follow through)!
I attended a workshop put on by Lee Canter and associates that was geared just for Middle and High School teachers,

I don't remember what it was called (something like "Building Positive Relationships in the Classroom"). I also received a book at the workshop that was helpful, it was by Lee Canter and Associates (again, I'm not sure what it was called, sorry), but Lee Canter seems to have some information that focuses on middle school. Good luck, this is a very fun and challenging age to teach, keep smiling, and enjoy each and every day!
