For shape recognitions, or measurement, you can create your own quilt with construction paper. Either cut out several different shapes and have students measure and write the length of each side, then assemble the pieces to creat a quilt, or give the students the measurements and they create the shape from that.

Create one with hexagons, octagons, pentagons, etc. Students label each shape. "I am a pentagon because I have five sides."....

Also, students can do a quilt book report. One patch for each main character, one patch for a lesson learned by the main character, one for plot maybe, and another for the main idea, etc....
