Brown Bag Reports and Interviews By Amy Lee
|
|
One book report ideas is brown bag report. The students decorate the front of the bag with a scene from the book and also I have a form they fill out and attach to the front listing the title, author, and quick summary.| Then they must place 3 objects in their bags which are associated with the story. Next they do an oral book report by pulling out each object and explaining how it is involved in the story. One of our lang. arts standards for sixth grade is reading a biography. I have students pick out a biography to read. Their project is to develop interview questions and answers about the person | | they read about. I use index cards for the questions on the front and the answers on the back. Then we have a "talk show" where I am the host and the students become the guests and the person they read about. I use their questions for the interview. The other students are the audience and they are encouraged to ask questions. Students are encouraged to dress like the person they read about. One year a student read about Robert E. Lee (Civil War general). For his interview he dressed like Robert E. Lee and even talked in a southern accent like Lee could have talked. I also have students do a timeline of the person they read about on poster board. I have them do a timeline of their life befor hand to understand how to develop the timeline for their biography.I have seen teachers do t-shirts (front and back) using paper. Then they attach them to a coat hanger and display them from the ceilings of their classrooms. I plan on doing this book project this year. I hope this helps.
