Lit. Circles

Clip to ScrapBook
I do things a little differently. After reading the books, websites and speaking with other teachers I've found that having the entire class (split into their book groups)meet at once saves time and we can meet more often.

They figure out the pages they read, according to a deadline I set, and are given different roles (ex. Character Captain)to report on in their groups about twice a week. I start with each small group having the same role, then as they learn their roles, do different ones. I circulate to see that their role sheets (activities) are completed and stop to listen in. Sometimes I miss

a group one day, but may stay with them the majority of the time the next time they meet. It all balances out.

I hope this makes sense. I am considering passing out a packet as someone else mentioned. This may keep them a little more organized and enable them to work ahead if they choose.

I would love to read how others do it. Thank you to the other person who responded.
