HARRY POTTER
By Tabitha

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with the others I think the concepts and vocabulary is to advanced for 2nd graders. I did read the first book with my 5th graders last year. It took us some time but they ate it up. I even had some of my parents get
all four books for them for Christmas.

I did however have two parents not want their children to read it even though I told them that it doesn't teach them how to be a wizard or how to become a witch. I pointed out all the wonderful things that Harry teaches such as true friendship, problem solving, how to deal with conflicts and others. I was even told that I wasn't a Christan because

I read this book. I took offense to that because I would never teach witchcraft or anything of the sort. I just let these two students read out of our anthology in the corner of the room as I had everyone else's attention including the other two.

I am going to read it again this year because of the moive, but I have a letter going home about it the first day to stop this falicy and the negativity of the book. I have read all four books and can't wait for the other book and movie to come out.
