Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Michelle,

I have read the Harry Potter books and have Loved them! But, as the others have said, I think they may be above most 2nd graders.

As far as the controversy issue, although I have not used it in my classrooms, I've heard of many parents being very much against the idea of the wizardry ideas and ghosts, etc being read to their children. If you do decide to use the book, I would inform parents that you're reading it aloud to the class and maybe have some positive points ready about the book in case you have some opposed to it. In the end, you have to respect their wishes, but you can try to get them to see the positive impact it has on the kids and the imagination.

Just a thought...
Barb
