Officer Buckle and Gloria. I got the idea from a recent primary Mailbox. It is such a cute picture book (Caldecott Winner). Officer Buckle goes to schools to give "safety tips speeches." The only problem is that the kids are bored to death and fall asleep. Until one day Officer Buckle is assigned a police dog partner named Gloria...
It is a great way to start talking about rules and the reasons we need them sometimes. It is also full of wonderful plays on words and fun vocabulary. (I used this for 2nd grade).
