i used this book last year in my first grade classroom and it worked wonders. I read the book aloud to my children twice during the first week of school. I purchased a small bucket and cut out 15 colored stars of fun foam. Each time I caught the class doing something good or working their best I had the helper of the day put a "drop in the bucket". Once all 15 stars were in the bucket we had a small behavior party the next day. They were able to vote on what they wanted as a reward. However, I also purchased a ladel and if the class did something bad or got a bad report I had to "dip" into the bucket. This did happen some and the children were very upset if it did.
