For a read aloud I love THE BFG by Roald Dahl...very funny and great vocabulary..all of his books are very imaginative and the kids may want to read some of his other books if you are reading one. Are your kids reading on| grade level? If makes a big difference in planning. You could also read something by Gary Paulsen...he has many books...all realistic nature adventures...Hatchet is a favorite. Again the kids may want to read others of his...he has a series of shorter chapter books for below level readers all high interest outdoor stories. I would always suggest reading the book yourself first to make sure | | it is interesting to you as the reader...that is very powerful if you love the book. Wow! what a long day...I would definitely do read aloud, have the kids read silently books of their choice, maybe partner read, have compare and contrast books talks by same authors, maybe do some writing...write and illustrate a book for younger children. I'm not sure if your focus is remediation or enrichment.Maybe write letters to favorite authors...Good luck! Have fun!
