Students Love These Books

I have taught 3rd grade for over 7 years as well as Reading Support. My kids love the Magic Treehouse series,and the Time Warp Trio series. Both are time-traveling themes which you can tie into a thematic unit in social studies or science. They engage the reluctant readers also. I'd also recommend Chocolate Covered Ants by Manes. Don't forget many beginning 3rd graders are not fluent readers yet and may need shorter texts at their individual levels before attacking long novels like the Little House on the Prairie series.
