comprehension is a struggle!
By Chris

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi!

I often find that evaluating my students' comprehension levels is the most difficult part of teaching reading. However, I agree with the woman who first posted in that you should probably focus on one skill.

Stephanie Harvey's books: Strategies that Work or Nonfiction Matters...there are more all help with the creation of lessons and skill based activities that target certain things you want the studnets to do. For example, if you want them to determine what's important and what's interesting in non-fiction....that is a skill....questioning is another...make charts....use sticky notes. THere are a variety of ways to approach the issue of compre. Hang in there. Just a hint. Get Stephanie HArvey's books. THey are outstanding. CHris
