Clip to ScrapBook
I read this book to my 6th graders thsi year. I really think that this book is suited for 6th grade - maybe 5th grade - because of the vocabulary involved and because it can be a difficult book to get through. Even though
we did it as a read aloud each child had a copy to follow along with and that helped a lot. They also had to answer comprehension questions along the way and predict what they thought would happen next. The magazine, The Mailbox helped with questions for each chapter - I don't know what issue because it was given to me a photocopy. A lot of my students really enjoyed it. Some students who
heard it in 5th grade and even one student who had it in 4th grade said that they liked it better this year because they could understand it more. Just some thoughts...
