Out of the Dust Ideas
By Erin

Clip to ScrapBook
I had to read this book for college - right when it came out. I loved it! It was a great tie in for poetry - because of the wonderful free verse poetry it contains. We also talked about the dust bowl. Another non-fiction book that is a great tie in is : Children of the Dust Bowl: The True Story of the School at Weedpatch Camp by Jerry Stanley. It has a lot of photos and explains why the people left Oklahoma. The reading level is 6th grade and up - but the pictures are wonderful and you can read excerpts.
