MI jobs
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
The competition is really tough-many more teachers then jobs. But, there was a lot of hiring going on here this year and for what I hear, still more next year. New teachers seem to get hired much more so than experienced-not
sure why. What district you look at makes a difference. This is a very diverse area and if you're bilingual, big plus; if you have special education, big plus (even if it's for a regular ed. classroom-many districts are completely mainstreamed for money reasons). Most positions are filled in early summer and then some at the end of summer (I was hired this year a week before school
started and I was one of the last to be hired in our district of about 60 new teachers).
I personally would avoid Detroit Schools just because of the stress of all you have to deal with.
Good luck!
