Yes you can teach Social Studies without coaching. Yes you can be a good teacher and a good coach at the same time. Not everyone can do it though. Some people can pull it off without any problem, others have to decide whats more important and put the majority of the energy there. The main thing when you go into teaching you have to decide, am I going into teaching because I want to teach, or am I going into teaching because I want to coach. There are times when I think that schools should hire people to coach who are not teachers. But I know this is not feasible. It is easier for the kids, the school system, and gives some teachers an opportunity if coaches are hired from current teachers.
