FL certification tests
By Lisa in FL

Clip to ScrapBook
I had no problem with my tests. I had to take the CLAST (College Level Academic Skills Test) which has a reading, math, and writing portion. It's designed for students who have completed their sophomore year of college.
A lot of my classmates have had trouble with the math, though.

The teacher certification tests are the Professional Exam (everybody takes that one, it's general theory and practice) and the Subject Area Exam (I took Elementary Ed 1st-5th). I was very well-prepared for it, thanks to my college. There is a study guide available, not sure which company it is, but I can find out.

The

majority of elem positions in my county seem to be 3rd grade. My internship kids are 4th grade, and I enjoy them, but in FL our big writing test is 4th grade and I don't want to have that pressure as a new teacher.
