    Actively monitoring...

at least that's what the state calls it.

We aren't allowed to do anything else while they test. And it's not two hours, it's all day... we start at 9:00 a.m., and I've been known to still be monitoring hallways at 5:00 p.m. They're the most boring days of the year!

We can't have computers on, no phones, no books, no magazines, nothing... it's even MORE fun when you are like me - a pullout who gets one or two students for small group.. and then I just sit.. and stare at them for hours on end... and try not to fall asleep.

When/IF we finish testing our group, then we help monitor in the hallways, relieve classroom teachers who need a break, monitor students in the restroom (no talking about the test - cause that's what I'D want to talk about in the restroom if I were 8!.. )

It's so totally ridiculous. And last year we had TEA observing us - we have tile halls, so we all wear soft sole shoes on TAKS day, she wore heels... and clickity clicked down the halls all day long...

I will say the test is appropriately named.. because it is the most TAKSing day of the year!!
