That's doesn't sound good, Heather. Now I am even more convinced that Leigh shouldn't take this job, especially if it's her first job ever. She want to leave teaching for good.

Unfortunately, many job seekers do take
jobs like this out of desperation. And, just as unfortunately, they quit very quickly. Many don't even make it through the first couple of months.

I think it's wise for any job seeker to thoroughly investigate any school in which he/she is thinking of taking a job. I once took a job when I first came down to North Carolina. I hadn't known anything about the school at all. I had

previously had good experiences in schools, so I hadn't thought to question this one. The principal wasn't entirely honest with me, either. He painted a rosy picture of how happy the teachers were at the school (NOT!) and how the school had become an "Exemplary School." Well, yeah, fine, but he didn't tell me about the high teacher turnover rate, or the reasons for it. What I also hadn't known was that the school district was offering a good-sized sign-on bonus if I could survive the year there. Whew!

There are nightmare schools out there. Be careful.
