job?
By pj

Clip to ScrapBook
HI
I too was unemployed after graduation. I didn't get a job for 5 years....now that sounds discouraging doesn't it?

I subbed a lot and made a good reputation for myself. Actually became a preferred sub. That is
a good thing and a bad thing. Good because you're always working bad because often they won't hire you because they don't want to loose that good sub. You need to find out which districts have a repuation for hiring their subs. Then make yourself available to those districts. Become the best dog gone sub they have ever seen. Go the extra distance. Tidy up the room before you go home.
Leave detailed sub notes. Follow the lesson plans as best you can. Come early, stay late and volunteer to help out if you can. And above all don't complain about a lack of a job. You can say oh I'd love to work at this school everyone is so friendly or helpful or what ever but no complaining! I know it works in my district because they hired my girlfriend and myself!

Good luck and I agree with all those others who said attitude counts! If you can't be cheerful then fake it because that's what they want.
