been there
By Gray

Clip to ScrapBook
I substituted for 2 1/2 years. It was frustrating. I felt if I was good enough to sub, I should be good enough to teach. It was depressing to see graduates getting jobs in a system that I substitute regularly for. I passed
out resumes. I "hit the pavement." It seemed no one wanted me.

I took the first teaching position offered. In a private school in a grade that I never wanted to teach. I worked there for 3 1/2 years. I then landed the job I always wanted. Upper grade in an inner city school. I will be starting my 6th year in this system in a couple of weeks.

Did I want to go down THIS PATH? No, but

I did learn a lot along the way. Without ALL my experiences, I wouldn't be the teacher I am today. Don't get discouraged out there. Life is an adventure. Your education wasn't in vain and it doesn't end after college. LEARN from the experiences you have to endure. It'll make you a stronger person.
