Don't give up
By KimW

Clip to ScrapBook
I know it is hard but don't give up. I haven't been given a position either and this is my second year at trying. Our schools start today and I'm waiting just a few hours before I start calling principals. Why? Because
many times when schools start they need more teachers. Sometimes a teacher leaves but many times the enrollment is greater than expected. I went to see our principals the other day and handed them yet another resume. I'll call them in a little while (if they don't call me) and bluntly ask them if they'll need any teachers. So, I know it is VERY hard and a lot of people are relying
on you but don't give up. Also, if it looks like you won't get a position, you could look into doing interims, subbing, being an aide, or volunteering at many schools a week (schools are always looking for people to listen to students read). This would get your foot in the door and you would get to know principals, a very valuable tool for next "hunting season".
