Come on... By KimW

Why don't we give her some encouragement? All this negative talk has got to make her feel good? Sorry for the sarcasm but I don't think we should dump our frustration of principals on her. She's just getting started | for goodness sake. However, you may be right. I don't know how long it would take a principal to call back. I NEVER WAIT ON PRINCIPALS TO CALL ME; I CALL THEM. I usually call a principal two to three days after the interview. I don't jump right to the question about the position. I ask them, "How are you?"; "Are you staying busy?" and etc. then I sneak in the question, "Have you made | | a decision about your position?" Usually they haven't, so I call back in another 3 to 4 days. Same thing. Eventually the principals know your name when the sectretary announces it. That's your goal isn't it? To get the principal to know your name. They may not hire you for that position but if another comes open soon after your interview, they'll remember you. (My problem is that after I do this with each principal I interview with, they don't get another position open soon enough to remember my name.) But, several principals now know be by name and this is how I made that possible.Oh, and don't forget send to thank you notes to the principal for their time spent and their consideration. Even if you don't get that position, it will mean a lot to them. A principal told me once that all applicants were honor students and etc, that the little things that an applicant does is what gets them hired.
